The birth of FundsXML France The proliferation of data exchanges between Asset Management players in recent years has led to a dramatic increase of tasks related to processing an even more dense and abundant information.
To ease the exchanges and obtain significant productivity gains, asset managers, ditributors, transfer agents, fund administrators, accountants and other industry players in France have formed a working group in 2000. This working group, called DIAMS (for Distribution and Integration for Asset Management Systems) has been transformed into a non-profit organization in 2004.
In 2009, given the similarity of objectives and methodology, DIAMS has merged with FundsXML. It then became FundsXML France as a non-profitable organization.
FundsXML France is sponsored by the French Association of Financial Management AFG. AFG is the organization of all asset management companies operating in France.
The ambition of FundsXML is to favor exchange of information in the Asset Management industry. FundsXML has designed a data dictionary modelling the concepts used by the Asset Management industry. Key applications based on this dictionary have been developed such as a UCITS repository, standardized messages like the Fund Processing Passport (FPP), the new European KIID (Key Investor Information Document) or a format for the transmission of data for funds reports. These messages allow easier communication between actors of the financial management world.
FundsXML is based on XML technology which has emerged up several years ago for exchange of heterogeneous data thanks to its flexible, explicit and universal syntax.
